Controversial Baby Yoga Technique

Millions of people around the world were left stunned when a video of Lena Fokina performing ‘baby yoga’ broke on the internet. The 51-year-old Russian was filmed spinning and flipping babies above her head and behind her back in such an outlandish style.

In fact, the moves were so shocking that most conceded they were being performed on a doll as no sane person would consider them acceptable. Nevertheless, we tracked Lena down to a seminar known as “Parenting the Deliberate Way” in Dahab, Egypt, exactly where parents from across Europe had been paying her to carry out the same moves on their infants, some just a few months old.

But Lena, who’s a certified PE teacher in her native Russia, insists the practice is completely secure and actually beneficial to kids.

For many years, doctors about the world have warned that ‘dramatic and unnatural movements’ inflicted on a young baby can result in brain bleeding, retinal hemorrhaging and brain swelling – generally known as Shaken Infant Syndrome (SBS).
And a few researchers have recommended that SBS can happen at a lot reduce levels of head movement than had been previously believed.
But Lena, who has been practicing infant yoga for much more than 30 years, tells customers it is harmless even for newborn babies, so long as a kid is eased in to the movements gradually.
She can also be not worried about any strain on the babies’ joints and limbs.
She said: ‘Even a tiny baby’s physique can adapt towards the process easily if you take it gradually.
‘As lengthy as the parent or instructor has practiced and studied the teachings of Dr Charkovsky the child will probably be fine.
